Situation

A Gemini CLI MCP server exposes dozens of tools you never need.

Symptom

Context fills with unused tool definitions.

Cause

Without configuration all tools of a server are enabled. includeTools makes it an allow-list, excludeTools removes tools, and excludeTools wins when both list the same tool.

Fix

Set includeTools for the few tools you need in the server's settings entry.
