Situation

A repository has only an AGENTS.md and you start Gemini CLI.

Symptom

The instructions are not loaded.

Cause

Gemini CLI looks for GEMINI.md by default. Other names, for example AGENTS.md, must be listed in the context.fileName setting.

Fix

Add context.fileName with the file names to settings.json, then run /memory show to confirm.
