Situation

Adding an MCP server prints Incompatible auth server.

Symptom

The login cannot start.

Cause

Some servers do not support Dynamic Client Registration. Claude Code also supports servers using Client ID Metadata Documents and discovers those automatically.

Fix

Register an OAuth app in the provider's developer portal, then add the server with --client-id and --callback-port.
